The Wheldon is a new, 50-unit affordable housing community in Jefferson, Iowa. The development features one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartment homes reserved for households earning between 40 and 60 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI),
Apartment homes feature contemporary interiors with granite countertops and a full suite of all-electric energy-efficient appliances, including refrigerators, electric ranges, dishwashers, and in-unit washer and dryers, providing added convenience for residents. Community amenities include a fitness center, playground, bike rack stations, and a fenced bark park, along with controlled access through key fobbed entry.
The Wheldon is made possible through 9% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits awarded by the Iowa Finance Authority, and debt and equity financing provided by Bridgewater Bank and Huntington Bank, respectively.
